Do not talk to a CPS investigator without an attorney.

Do not talk to a Child Protective Services (CPS) investigator without an attorney. The law prohibits you from interfering with a CPS investigation. That does not mean you do not have the right to have your attorney present when CPS is doing their investigation. The CPS investigators generally do a good job, but protecting your rights is not their primary objective. Your parent child relationship is the most important relationship you have, do yourself a favor and retain an attorney at the first instance of CPS being involved in your family's lives.
