Victims of Crimes in the United States

Immigration laws provide assistance to victims of various crimes by providing immigration relief. Some of these crimes include: human trafficking, rape, murder, manslaughter, domestic violence, and sexual assault.

Battered Spouse or Child

As a battered spouse or child, you may file an immigrant visa petition under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). VAWA allows certain spouses and children of U.S. citizens and permanent residents to file a petition themselves without the abuser’s knowledge.
