Splitting Time During Holidays for Children: Keeping Holidays as Stress-Free as Possible

On Behalf of | Mar 21, 2018 | Family Law, Firm News |

The holidays can be a difficult time for those going through a divorce or custody battle. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to keep your holidays sane.

Know where your children will be spending the holidays, what times they’ll be with their other parent and when they will be with you. You should review your child custody terms with your attorney if they aren’t clear to you.

Perhaps create a holiday schedule that the children can read and put it on your refrigerator. This can help reduce stress because the children will know where they will be. Both you and the children’s other parent should be familiar with the schedule so that there are no surprises.

Occasionally, things don’t go as planned, children get sick, events run over, traffic happens. When both parents are more flexible during the holidays, the children will likely be more at ease as well and enjoy the holidays more.

Planning ahead can help keep holidays more peaceful and also more stress-free.
