It is always a bad idea to lie on your immigration petitions. It is always abad idea to lie to or withhold information from a consular officer regarding your immigration matters.
Lying to United States Government officials is a crime, and doing so may cause the applicant to be permanently barred from the United States and removed (deported) from the United States.
